The delight I find in what I do derives from my process. I am a painter and a printmaker. I have used watercolor, gouache, collage and pastel as painting mediums. I have had my etching press for many years and now it feels like an extension of my hand. I use real materials from nature on the press to make monotypes that I develop into finished pieces using other materials. Each image has its own life and direction as it begins to “find its voice.” I very much work on each image, whether it is a painting or a print, to find out “what it’s going to be.”
My studio has been in Long Island City since 1983. I am the owner and co-founder of Studio 41, an exhibition space and an artists collective. studio41lic.com
