I have two pieces in the show, both new gouache “landscape” paintings made this year. These are about “traveling” in many ways. Perhaps they are about traveling back to my roots as a painter, moving from printmaking to experiment with an old medium used in a new way, or traveling to imaginary places while staying put in my studio. If you can’t travel yourself, here is one of them.

I have been the lucky recipient of a $5000 grant from the City Artists Corps, money from the New York State Foundation for the Arts and the New York City Cultural Council. These grants are meant to support artists working in all mediums who have been impacted by the pandemic.
I hope to welcome you to my studio for the first time since 2019 to see how I work, to see the materials and processes I use and of course to see the work I’ve been doing these last two years. I want this to be a true celebration of New York grit, of New York spirit!
